The Advantages of a VDR Database

A VDR database is a safe method of storing and sharing numerous reams of confidential information. This lets investors or parties access them quickly. This means that companies in the venture capital and private equity industries can efficiently share documents for various deals, rather than having to deal with a huge mountain of documents.

VDR databases are also an important instrument for ship operators who use them to monitor the performance of their equipment and train their crew. They can also be used to document and review incidents that are ‘near miss for instance, so that lessons can be learned or company policies can be assessed.

The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) has recommended that managers and owners of vessels make use of VDR data to be proactive. They said this could result in preventing accidents and the development of a positive safety culture.

The proactive use of VDR data can have many benefits which include:

Analyzing the data that is recorded on VDRs should be a regular part of every ship’s operation and should be performed regularly by a qualified safety officer. This information should be made available to the entire fleet, and a central system that allows for the recording and analysis should be implemented.

There are a variety of VDRs available for use on ships. Certain VDRs are more economical and others offer less information. However, it is always advisable to check the specifications of any VDR you are considering.
